Professor Mahendhiran Sanggaran Nair FASc is the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Sustainability) at Sunway University. He is a Fellow of CPA (Australia) and the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, and a member of the National Science Council and National High-Tech Council of Malaysia. Trained as an econometrician and data scientist, he holds a BSc (Honours) in Mathematics from Brock University and multiple degrees from York University, including a PhD in Economics. His research focuses on development economics, economic policy modelling, sustainable development, and planetary health. Professor Nair developed the 10-10 MySTIE Framework, aimed at enhancing Malaysia’s science and technology impact, advised government agencies, and led national economic plans. A recognised expert, he provides insights on regional economies in media and was named one of the 100 Most Inspirational LinkedIn Icons in Malaysia in 2019.
