POLICY DIALOGUE :Protection of Biodiversity in the Tropics

Professor Jatna Supriatna is a Chairman of the Basic Science Commission of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) and Executive Director of the Indonesian Science Fund (DIPI). He earned his Master’s and Doctorate in Biological Anthropology from the University of New Mexico in 1986 and 1991, respectively. He conducted post-doctoral research at Columbia University and received management training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). A researcher and activist, he worked at the Indonesia Institute of Sciences and later became a professor at Universitas Indonesia. From 1995 to 2010, he served as Executive Director and Vice President of Conservation International Indonesia. In 2010, he founded the Climate Change Research Center at Universitas Indonesia and has held various leadership roles in environmental organisations. He has published over 180 scientific articles and authored 28 books. Recognised with numerous awards, he has been described as “The Noah of Modern History” and a “Conservation Warrior”.
