Global and regional climate
Professor Dr Edvin Aldrian is a prominent Indonesian researcher and meteorology expert. He has held key positions, including Head of the Climate Change and Air Quality Center at Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) and Head of Research and Development at BMKG. Currently, he serves as a research professor at the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) and won the Habibie Award in 2018. From 1993 to 2009, Professor Aldrian was involved in artificial rain technology at BPPT. He led BMKG’s climate initiatives from 2009 to 2016 and served as Vice Chairperson of the IPCC Working Group I from 2015 to 2023. In 2023, he was re-elected for a second term, continuing his impactful work in climate science.
