Professor Dr Shaufique Fahmi Ahmad Sidique is a Professor of Agricultural Economics at UPM. He served as the Director of the Institute of Plantation Studies from January 2022 to January 2024 and of the Institute of Agricultural and Food Policy Studies from 2014 to 2020. His research focuses on environmental and natural resource economics, as well as agriculture and food. Recent work highlights the livelihood and welfare of palm and rubber smallholders in Malaysia. His past studies address agricultural transformation and its implications for food security, the valuation of artificial reefs, and the welfare of rural artisanal fisher households. Professor Shaufique holds a PhD in agricultural economics from Michigan State University and an undergraduate degree in accounting from Cardiff University.
