Laurent Renia is a Professor of Infectious Diseases and Director of the Respiratory and Infectious Diseases Programme at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University. He obtained his PhD from University Pierre et Marie Curie in 1991 and completed postdoctoral research at New York University. In 1993, he became a research scientist at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM), later serving as research director and co-director at Institut Cochin. He joined the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in 2007 and became Executive Director of the ASTAR ID Labs in 2020. His research focuses on immunology related to infectious diseases, particularly mosquito-borne and zoonotic viruses.
