POLICY DIALOGUE: : Protection of Biodiversity in the Tropics

Dr A. Aldrie Amir is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI), UKM. He is the Coordinator of the Malaysian Mangrove Research Alliance and Network (MyMangrove), and a Commission Member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature Species Survival Commission – Mangrove Specialist Group (IUCN SSC). He obtained his PhD in Marine Science (Mangrove Ecology) from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2011. He has extensive experiences in studying mangrove ecosystems in Malaysia and around the IndoWest Pacific region, specialising in mangrove habitat dynamics with major interests on mangrove socio-ecological system, including conservation, management, and governance of this signature ecosystem of the tropics.
