Ar Dr Serina Hijjas is a prominent figure in sustainable design in Malaysia, serving as the President of the Malaysia Green Building Council and a member of the Green Building Index Accreditation Panel. As the Principal Creative Director at HIJJAS Architects & Planners, she has transformed the architectural landscape with projects focused on energy efficiency and sustainability, including Heriot Watt University’s green campus and the Celcom Tower. Her work emphasises holistic design, placemaking, and context, leading to numerous award-winning projects. Notably, she designed the Malaysia Pavilion for Dubai EXPO, the first Net Zero Carbon Pavilion, inspired by the rainforest and traditional stilt architecture. This project highlights the importance of sustainable development in all aspects of building and design.
